Latvia in the European Union

Latvia became member of the European Union on May 1, 2004.

Since then, Latvia has been represented in the institutions established by the Treaty on European Union and the Treaty on Functioning of the European Union:

Council of the EU

European Council

European Parliament

European Commission

Court of Justice of the European Union

European Court of Auditors

The European Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions are consultative bodies which help to the Council of the EU, the European Commission and the European Parliament.
